We're here to answer your questions
Every family’s journey is different, but many begin by looking for answers about their child’s communication development before exploring the support that’s right for them. From assessment and early intervention to school-aged support and NDIS services, our therapists work closely with families to help children and young adults build confidence in everyday communication.
Understanding a child’s communication needs is the first step towards the right support. Our comprehensive speech assessments identify strengths, challenges, and practical recommendations, giving families greater clarity and confidence when planning the next steps.
The early years provide an important opportunity to build strong communication foundations. Through play-based early intervention, we help toddlers develop speech, language, and social communication skills while equipping parents with practical strategies to support learning at home.
As children grow, communication plays a vital role in learning, friendships, and classroom participation. We support school-aged children with speech, language, literacy, fluency, and social communication so they can participate more confidently at school and in everyday life.
Every autistic child communicates in their own unique way. Our strengths-based therapy focuses on meaningful communication, social interaction, and participation while working closely with families to support each child’s individual goals.
Communication skills continue to develop beyond childhood. We help teenagers and young adults build the confidence and practical communication skills needed for further education, employment, relationships, and greater independence.
Our team provides goal-focused speech therapy for NDIS participants while supporting families throughout the NDIS journey. Whether it’s applying for funding, using a first plan, or understanding available supports after moving to Australia, we work alongside families and support teams to make the process easier to navigate.
Choosing a speech therapist is about more than finding the closest clinic to Blacktown Station. Families want a team that listens, provides clear guidance, and supports their child’s communication journey with care that fits their goals and everyday life.
Our team includes speech pathologists from different cultural backgrounds who speak different languages, allowing us to better understand each family’s values, communication styles, and lived experiences while delivering care that feels respectful, welcoming, and personalised.
As a registered NDIS provider, we work closely with participants, families, and support coordinators to make the process easier to understand and ensure therapy aligns with each person’s goals.
Alongside clinic-based care, we offer telehealth appointments and mobile sessions where appropriate, making it easier to access consistent support in the setting that works best for your family.

The cost of a speech assessment depends on the type of report required after the assessment. For families who need an assessment with a standard summary letter, the total cost is $603.99. This includes two standard assessment sessions and a one-hour summary letter outlining the assessment results and diagnosis.
For families requiring a comprehensive report for a paediatrician, school, or the NDIS, the total cost is $991.97. This option includes two standard assessment sessions and a detailed three-hour report covering assessment scores, strengths and areas for development, diagnosis, therapy goals, and practical recommendations.
Some assessments, such as those involving Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) or literacy assessments for school-aged children, require additional clinical work. In these cases, your speech pathologist will provide an individual quote after the initial assessment.
No. A referral isn’t required to book a private speech therapy appointment with Brighter Futures Allied Health. If a parent is concerned about their toddler’s speech development or a young adult is experiencing communication difficulties, an assessment can be booked directly without seeing a GP first.
However, if speech therapy will be funded through the NDIS, Medicare, or another funding pathway, supporting documentation or a referral may be required depending on the funding source. Blacktown families may secure a referral from their GP, paediatrician, or healthcare team, including clinicians from Blacktown Hospital or local child and family health services. Families can also be referred by childcare centres, schools, or support coordinators if ongoing therapy is recommended.
Yes, speech pathology can be funded through the NDIS when it is considered reasonable and necessary to help a participant achieve their goals. For example, a child may receive NDIS-funded speech therapy to develop communication skills for school, while a young adult might access therapy to improve communication, social participation, or independence at work and in the community.
If this is your family’s first NDIS plan or you’ve recently moved to Australia and are unfamiliar with the system, our team can explain how speech therapy fits within your plan and work with you, your support coordinator, and other healthcare professionals to make the most of your funding.
Yes. Family involvement is encouraged because communication doesn’t stop when the therapy session ends. Parents may join a toddler’s session to learn activities they can continue at home, while teenagers or young adults may choose to have a parent, carer, or support worker involved when discussing strategies or therapy goals.
The level of family participation depends on each person’s age, preferences, and therapy goals. Your speech pathologist will work with you to determine what will be most helpful throughout the therapy journey.
There is currently no waitlist for daytime speech therapy appointments at Brighter Futures Allied Health. Families who are available during school hours can often access assessment or therapy sooner, allowing children to begin support without unnecessary delays.
After-school and after-work appointments are in higher demand and availability changes regularly. If these times are preferred, our team can discuss the current schedule and help find the earliest suitable appointment for your family.
