Autism Spectrum Disorder

How can speech pathologists help children on the spectrum?

Speech pathology is generally one of the first services recommended following a diagnosis of Autism, as communication and social difficulties are common with children on the autism spectrum. Once a child has been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, Speech Pathologists can work with the child’s family and other stakeholders (e.g. teachers, other clinicians) to support the child in learning to effectively communicate their wants and needs and improve their quality of life.
